CSS Based Websites
Every website that WebDuck Designs produces is made using the most current version of CSS. WebDuck Designs has not made a Table/Cell based website in almost 5 years. The reason we only make CSS websites is threefold. The first reason all of our websites utilize CSS construction is because WebDuck Designs is a search engine optimization development company and CSS website construction reduces the total amount of code used to build a website which equals a more favorable code to content ratio. Since code to content ratio is one of the many factors that make up the search engine algorithm so the more favorable the ratio the better your website will perform on the search engines. The second reason that WebDuck Designs only builds CSS based websites is to ensure cross browser compatibility. This means that by building a website using CSS it will appear the same in every web browser. The third and final reason we only build CSS websites is because doing so reduces the load time of a page. Even though high speed internet is readily available though phone and cable companies alike, recent studies have shown that upwards of 40% of internet users are still using dial up internet. Page load time is also becoming increasingly important as more cell phones are offering the ability to browse the internet through their cell phone networks.
Just because a website utilizes CSS does not mean that it is in fact a CSS website. A true CSS website utilizes “div” tags to create each of the elements that make up a website. These “div” tags are formatted using an externally loaded CSS style sheet. Using an external style sheet make a big difference in load time because the formatting information loads when a visitor views a page the first time and doesn’t need to be reloaded each time a new page is viewed. This differs from the non CSS websites in that developers will place the CSS styles inside the head of each page requiring the browser to load all the for styles each and every time a page is loaded. The most common reason that developers place CSS code in the head of a website is because they are inexperienced and rely on Dreamweaver to write the code for them.
